Just a few updates:
As you remember, before the school year started, we moved the school Masses to Thursdays in order to adjust appropriately for in-services and a few holidays. When we did this, I kept the Friday morning confessions on Friday, immediately prior to the morning Mass. However, not many people are able to come for confession at that time on Friday mornings. For this reason, I have decided to cancel the Friday morning confessions and move them to Thursday morning at 8:30, before the school Mass in Payne. I will start doing this this week, on Thursday, Oct. 22. Hopefully, this will be a more accessible time for parishioners to come to the sacrament.
The Melchizedek Project is our parish group for High School boys who are open to considering whether Jesus might be calling them to become priest. This group has not met since the COVID restrictions have been implemented. However, if the restrictions are not intensified in the coming months, I am planning to restart the group in January. I will meet with the group on the second Sunday of every month at 12:00, in Paulding; so, the first meeting will be January 10, 2021. Lunch will always be provided at the meetings. Once I have a sense of how many boys are interested, I will decide where exactly to have the group meet. In the past, the group read through Fr. Brett Brannen’s book, To Save a Thousand Souls, together at the meetings and discussed topics related to priesthood. If your son is interested, please contact the parish office to let us know. Also, please let us know if the second Sunday of each month works for your schedule.
Lastly, the November Latin Mass will be on Saturday, Nov. 14, instead of the usual first Saturday. As usual, for any boys interested in serving the Latin Mass, I am happy to schedule more training sessions.
