Bulletin Letter – 7/9/17

Dear Parishioners,                                                                                                                                  +JMJ

We now have scheduled our second junior high and senior high school men’s vocation faith basketball event. Next Sunday, July 16th at 2pm, we’ll begin at Paulding Middle School gymnasium with a basketball game. At half-time Deacon Scott – who will also be organizing and playing in the game – will give a talk entitled “Sports and Spirituality”. After the game, we’ll drive a short distance to Ruth and Bill Graham’s home for a cookout. Junior high and high school men, please consider coming – especially if you did not make the basketball event last month. Of course, all those who made last month’s game are still invited to this month’s game. Please call the parish office ASAP to reserve a spot, so we can plan for food. There is no charge.

Please keep in mind the upcoming year of YDisciple for any entering and current high school students. YDisciple has proven to be such an effective way for young people to fellowship and go deeper in their Faith in a small-group setting. A postcard is being mailed to the homes of all eligible young men and women to invite them and their families to our mid-Summer YDisciple gathering and welcoming event. It will be at the old “Klinger Beach” quarry, now owned by Mike and Brenda Riebersal, who generously hosted us last summer and are eager to do so again this summer, Sunday, July 30th at 2pm. Incoming and current high school students, watch the bulletin and your snail-mail for more details. Last year’s event was awesome!

Also, please keep in mind our desire to host an ALPHA program this fall. It’s a fine program to which you can invite people who are non-churched, non-Catholic, or even simply non-practicing Catholic. The Lord wants to use you to help others get back into relationship with Him, and this program could be the very instrument that will help you say “yes” to this desire of the Lord. Perhaps the Lord is even calling you to help lead the ALPHA progam at our parish. There will be a training Saturday, August 12th at Fostoria, St. Wendelin Parish. We hope to have a handful of parishioners attend the training. Please consider it. ALPHA is a low-key way to fellowship with attendees over a meal and discuss basic Christian topics (God, humanity, Jesus, Holy Spirit, Church) with the help of solid video segments. Please direct any questions to Theresa Conley in the parish office.

May our parish become still more explicitly an evangelizing parish, helping souls in Paulding County to draw nearer to Jesus Christ! This is the natural/supernatural outcome of our own relationship with Him.

Have a blessed week!

In cordibus Iesu et Mariae,

Fr. Poggemeyer
