Bulletin Letter – 8/29/21

Dear parishioners,

The first item I would like to mention in this weekend’s article is something that I am sure you noticed in the bulletin a couple weeks ago.  I would like to offer congratulations and special thanks to a young parishioner, Dillon Shough.  At the beginning of this month, Dillon worked diligently with family, friends, and fellow Boy Scouts to install landscaping in the front of the Ed Center in Paulding.  Dillon and his crew worked hard from early morning through the afternoon on a Saturday and did not even allow some rain to hold him back!  Dillon planned all the details of this service project with the goal of achieving the Eagle Scout Award, which is the highest honor of the Boy Scouts.

Thank you for your patience a few weeks ago as school delays threw a wrench into our usual weekly Mass schedule during the first few days of the school year.  I know this produced some confusion on both Wednesday and Thursday of that week, and I apologize for any inconvenience that may have caused.  The first school Mass was originally scheduled for Thursday, August 19; but with school being cancelled on August 18 (first day of school), we decided to cancel the school Mass because it would not allow the students to get acclimated to the regular school schedule on the first day.  Then, with school being delayed on August 19, we followed our parish policy for weekday Masses on days of inclement weather.  Our policy is that when a weekday Mass is scheduled in a school district that has delayed the start of the school day, or cancelled school for the day, the Mass for that morning is cancelled.

In hopes to curb any further confusion, we will be following this policy for both fog and winter school delays/cancellations.  This way, we can all be assured to be on the “same page” as to when the weekday Masses are cancelled.  Regarding fog, sometimes it is clear in town, but the roads between the villages are densely covered, and the more prudent option is to not travel until it clears.

Regarding Wednesdays, if school is delayed or cancelled in Paulding, we will still have Mass for whomever can make it to the church.  However, when Paulding schools are delayed, adoration will begin at 12:00; when Paulding schools are cancelled, adoration will be cancelled as well.

Blessings to you all!
