September 2-3, 2023
Dear parishioners,
The start of a new school year means, of course, the beginning of a new year in our PSR program as well.
However, this year we will be making a few practical changes. Because we have not yet been able to fully
address the pipe break in the Antwerp Center (we are still waiting for the plumbers to come cut the block in the
wall and scope the pipes to find the break), we will not be having PSR classes there this year. Instead, we will
be offering Kindergarten through 8 th grade PSR at the Paulding Ed Center at 6:45 p.m. Please note two items:
first, this is a different time than last year. Based on feedback we received from parents, the slightly earlier start
time will be especially helpful for the younger ages to get home and in bed at a good time. The second item to
note is that we will no longer be offering the afternoon time in Paulding for classes. This also was based on
feedback we received from parents. Many indicated that they would prefer making a single trip rather than
running back and forth all afternoon/evening. As always, we welcome feedback. I would like to thank
everyone involved in advance for your patience as we implement these changes throughout this year. I should
also note at this point that we will continue to hold 7 th and 8 th grade PSR in Payne in addition to the 7 th and 8 th
grade classes happening in Paulding. The Payne 7 th and 8 th grade PSR will meet from 7:00-8:00 p.m. in the
school building.
To facilitate these changes to our PSR operations, we need to add classroom space to the Paulding Ed Center in
order to accommodate all of the classes at one time. Accordingly, we are adding a wall in two of the classrooms
to split both of them in two; sound absorbing material will be installed within the walls. The cost of this project
is $17,000. The total amount will be paid by money that is already in the Building and Maintenance Fund.
Thank you for your continued support of this Fund!
On a similar note, you have likely already seen the notice on the doors of the Paulding church stating that we
will now be concluding our weekly Wednesday period of adoration at 6:00 p.m. Although this is a small
sacrifice, it will help us to streamline our children’s choir rehearsals with the new PSR time. The children’s
choir will practice from 6:00 until about 6:40 or thereabout on Wednesdays, ending right before PSR starts.
This provides a double benefit. First, with this time for children’s choir rehearsals, we will now be able to have
the entire choir together for the rehearsals (for a while there were two separate groups and times for their
rehearsals). Second, for those students who are involved in both children’s choir and PSR, parents will
hopefully have less time on the road going back and forth between home and the Ed Center.
Lastly, speaking of our students, please keep in your prayers all of our students who will be making their first
Communion and those who will be confirmed this Spring!
Blessings,
Fr. Ammanniti
