Dear Parishioners,
First of all, I would like to thank everybody who put so much hard work into our beautiful Easter liturgies: the deacons, the musicians, sacristans, decorators, altar servers. I would also like to thank our RCIA team and sponsors for their many, many hours of prayer, discussion and study to prepare our newest members, who joined us by receiving their Sacraments of Initiation. Those who received their Sacraments of Initiation at the Easter Vigil were: Greg Adkins, Paul Brandehoff, Keagann Parrish, Brian Carter, Stan Feasby and Dean Elliott. As they join our parish life, may we support them in their spiritual journey. God, who has begun a good work in each of us, is faithful to bring it to completion! (Phil 1:6).
Next, I would ask all of you to pray intensely for a fourth grader at our Divine Mercy School – Chase Holt. I learned on Easter morning that Chase and his family had just gotten some very difficult news about his cancer. May our Lord give them all they need to abide in him in this time.
Finally, it seems opportune to put in another word for Divine Mercy School. We are taking registrations. The school is a very fine little institution. I make a visit to the classrooms most Fridays, so I get to see the dedication of the teachers. I also see the continued improvement in technology, with the addition of cutting-edge Smart boards and a daily progress communication system for parents, as well as the new chrome books for our classrooms this year. The school culture is constantly faith-filled, and it is aimed at educating the whole child: intellectually, spiritually, physically, relationally. If cost is a concern for a family, we have in place a system to assess need and provide some help, as funds are available. There are also Ed Choice need-based scholarships available for families who qualify. (The first significant deadline for these applications is fast approaching, however; so you would want to apply ASAP for this scholarship.) If you have any questions about attending Divine Mercy School, please don’t hesitate to contact Joe Linder, our Principal, or Dianne Jones, Finance Manager.
Have a Blessed Divine Mercy Sunday!
In cordibus Iesu et Mariae,
Fr. Poggemeyer
