Prepare for the Bishop’s Consecration to the Sacred Heart

To mark the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, the U.S. bishops will officially consecrate the United States to the Sacred Heart of Jesus on Thursday, June 11, 2026. This historic national consecration is a call for spiritual renewal, community unity, and faithful service.

You can prepare to participate in this event personally, as a family, or within our parish community.

1. Spiritual Preparation and Prayer

  • National Novena: Unite with Catholics nationwide by praying the official novena beginning June 3, 2026, leading up to the consecration. You can find the novena prayers here.
  • Eucharistic Adoration: Participate in the nationwide initiative of 250 Hours of Adoration at to foster spiritual renewal.
  • Sacrament of Confession: Prepare your heart by going to reconciliation beforehand.

2. Family and Home Enthronement

  • Display Images: Set up a dedicated, visible space in your home displaying the images of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the Immaculate Heart of Mary.
  • Family Consecration: Gather your household, read Scripture (like John 19:31–37), and recite a formal prayer dedicating your family to His Heart. You can find the prayers here.

3. Works of Mercy & Community Action

  • 250 Works of Mercy: Fulfill the bishops’ call to action by completing specific charitable acts or acts of service in your local community.
  • Local Participation: Participate in Mass for the Solemnity of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus on Friday, June 12 at 8 am in Payne.
