Divine Mercy Parish Parents’ Prayer For Their Child
[This prayer could be said with the child present, even laying a hand on your child….perhaps during Sunday family prayer. Adapt it for several children, as needed.]
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, Amen.
First of all, we ask you, Blessed Virgin Mary to spread your mantle of protection over Name. Blessed Mother, drive away and send to Calvary any evil that could harm him/her in this coming week. Then, in your wisdom, Blessed Lady, please pray, as you so fully know how, for all the fruits of the Spirit and other graces to be his/hers this week.
Father in Heaven, we thank you so much for the gift that Name is to our family and to the whole world! Please help him/her this coming week in every way.
Father, strengthen the life of the Holy Spirit in Name. May he/she do all that is pleasing to you this week, all that gives you glory. And, may he/she avoid all that is displeasing to you, and therefore contrary to his/her thriving in every way. May his/her relationships be full of truth, goodness and beauty. Give Name wisdom beyond his/her years, and let him/her know the depth of your love for him/her. Let him/her be assured always of our love for him/her as well. Help him/her to stand strong and to choose love in the midst of all of this week’s works, joys and sufferings, always united to the Love of Jesus on Calvary in the Holy Eucharist.
Guardian angel of Name, please guard and guide him/her in every way this coming week. St. Michael the Archangel, protect Name.
St. Joseph, please intercede for all of Name’s needs this week. St. Faustina, patroness of Divine Mercy, please do the same.
[Here add a prayer for any specific things your child will need help with this coming week. Others in the family could add a prayer here for Name.]
Father, all of this we ask with great love and thanksgiving, in the name of Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
[With holy water on your finger, as you trace the cross on your child’s forehead, say….]
May Almighty God bless you, protect you from all evil, and bring you to everlasting life. Amen.
Give thanks to the Lord, for He is Good, and His Mercy endures forever! Amen.
