Parent Newsletter September 9 2015

Parents – School begins each day at 8:50 a.m.  Students that walk or are brought by parents should not be at school before 8:40 in the morning.  Teachers use this time for planning and preparing for the day.  Most days our teachers do not receive a break all day so this time is important to them.  Thank you for your support!
Last Friday, September 4th, the staff participated in the scheduled in-service.  We began the morning talking with Shane Dyson from the Paulding County Sheriff’s Department, on updating our ALICE training.  We will continue to have the appropriate drills necessary to keep our students and staff ready to act if necessary.  Thank you to Shane!
Next Sarah Noggle and Michael Schweinsberg from the OSU Extension, Paulding County, presented to the staff the programs and activities available to our students and teachers.    Sarah is the director of Agriculture and Natural Resources and Michael is the 4-H Youth Development Educator.  Along with their own children, Ethan and Delana Noggle and Raelyn and Deklyn Schweinsberg, they showed us that 4-H is more than just animals.  More than 200 still projects can be adopted to fit into units that teachers are currently teaching in their classrooms.  The presentation was very informative and appreciated by the teachers.  Thank you to all!
The Wayne Trace school district is the third largest in area in the state of Ohio, covering 179 square miles!  That is a lot of miles to be responsible for.  Thankfully, I do not have to make those delay/closing decisions.  I completely support and appreciate Mr. Steve Arnold, (superintendent of Wayne Trace Schools), and the choices that he makes.  He definitely puts students and their safety first!
Just a reminder that when school is on a 3 hour delay lunches are not picked up from Payne Elementary until 12:50, making our lunch time approximately one hour later than usual.  Please make sure that your student has eaten enough to cover that extra time.
Our third and fourth graders will host our Friday School Mass with Father Poggemeyer.  Giving service back to God is such a privilege and honor considering all He has done for us.
The 7th Annual Nathan Rosswurm Golf Scramble will be held on Saturday, September 12th.  Thank you to Bob Mutschelknaus at Pleasant Valley Golf Course for his help in making our golf scramble possible.  Thank you also to the members of our School Council, Patty Lee, Jennifer O’Shaughnessey, Sarah Noggle, Ed Stuart and Jason Williamson. Profits will be used to benefit the students of Divine Mercy School.  We appreciate everyone that donated, advertised and participated in our golf scramble.
Our fall fundraiser ends tomorrow, Thursday, September 10th.  The orders will be processed and delivered to school on Tuesday, October 13th.
Picture Day will be Monday, September 21st.  Enclosed in this envelope is your picture paper with the necessary info.  Please send your picture envelope back to school by Thursday, September 17th.   All students will be photographed in the fall as this photo is used in the yearbook.
Box Tops for Education bring in extra funding for our school.  Campbell labels also enable us to get free items for our school.  While shopping this past weekend, I noticed bonus box tops on many items. Please save and send in all Box Tops for Education and Campbell labels to us.
