November 16-17, 2024
Dear parishioners,
As we near the end of the first semester of the school year, it is time for me to once again announce that it is time to train new altar servers for our weekend and Holy Day Masses. Any boys in the 3rd grade or older are eligible to be an altar server. So, if your boy is interested in joining the server team, just call the parish office to let us know. We will put the list of names together and will reach back out at a later date to schedule a day and time for the training itself. Because December is usually crazy for everyone, we will schedule the training for sometime after the new year. Please encourage your boys to take part!
Looking ahead, December 8, the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, is the patronal feast day of the United States and a Holy Day of Obligation. You will notice that this year December 8 is a Sunday. Because this is the patronal feast of our country, the liturgical celebration of it is transferred to Monday, December 9. A couple months ago, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) wrote to the Holy See asking a few questions in this regard. The Vatican’s Dicastery for Divine Worship responded by clarifying that, when a Holy Day is transferred, the obligation to attend Mass is transferred as well. This means that this year, Monday December 9 is a Holy Day of Obligation. Our Mass schedule for that day is 9:15 school Mass in Payne, 12:00 Mass in Paulding, and then 7:00p.m. in Payne.
With Advent right around the corner, mark your calendars for our Advent Days of Grace! Our first one will be on Wednesday, December 11 in Paulding from 8:30-10:00am, 12:00-2:00pm, and 5:00-8:00pm. Our second one will be in Payne on Wednesday, December 18 at the same times. For the Paulding Day of Grace, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will still be taking place in Paulding as usual. However, kindly note that for the Day of Grace in Payne, exposition of the Blessed Sacrament will be happening in Payne that day and not in Paulding.
Blessings,
Fr. Ammanniti
