Bulletin Letter – 8/4/24

August 3-4, 2024

Dear parishioners,

Many thanks to all those who volunteered to help make our vacation Bible school run smoothly once again!  This includes a large number of people who helped in different ways: those who were physically present in the Ed Center to assist with the various activities, those who prepared the creative snacks throughout the week, those who donated items for the program, and anyone else that I might be forgetting at the moment.  Thank you once again for helping our young parishioners grow in the Catholic faith!

Thanks also to all those who made the annual parish picnic a great gathering!  I am grateful for everyone who came to enjoy the event; thank you for bringing a dish to share with the rest of the parish.  Special thanks go to the Paulding Knights of Columbus for organizing the setup and cleanup of the entire event.

While I am going through my list of “thank you” items, I would also like to thank the parishioners who made it possible for us to replace some of the sidewalks at our school.  Their donation paid for the entire cost, which came to $7,460.  To be more specific, the sidewalk between the gym and the school, and the sidewalk between the school entrance and Arturus Street were becoming deteriorated and uneven, so they were removed and replaced with new concrete.  As a bonus, the new sidewalk inclines toward the cement pad at the front door, which will make it easier for visitors to enter and for deliveries to be brought inside.

Speaking of the school, I would like to remind everyone that Divine Mercy School’s academic year begins on Wednesday, August 14.  Like last year, we will be having our school Masses at 9:15 on Fridays.  When there is a scheduled two-hour delay on a Friday due to a teacher in-service, then Mass will be at 2:00.  However, please note that our first school Mass of this school year will be at 9:15 on Thursday, August 15 for the Solemnity of the Assumption, which is a Holy Day of Obligation.

Enjoy the rest of your summer!
